Radio Eats Radio

HFS is dead. Long live El Zol!

On Wednesday at noon, the popular modern rock station WHFS 99.1, owned by Infinity Broadcasting, was reformatted to become "El Zol." The new station features salsa, merengue, bacchata, Caribbean and Central American dance music in a Spanish-language format.

I was shocked at first, but then I realized that I don't give a shit. It's not like I've listened to that station in years.

I have my interwebs.

I actually never listened to HFS in it's heydey.

But as I've had more conversations about HFS with people since my post, I realize that the HFS Bob Waugh (who's now over at WRNR) is the same Bob Waugh from my favorite radio station when I was 12-16 years old, WLIR.

This revelation is freaking my shit. That station made me who I am today! In my googling I found out that they're having a reunion this Friday...
