First Fridays - GH Practice Party

Image
That is a photo of my callus. My Guitar Hero callus. First Fridays here in Hampden is when a lot of the businesses have special events, sales or just stay open later than usual. We didn't get it together this month in time to have another Guitar Hero Competition over at atomic POP, so we'll just stay open a little later and have a casual Guitar Hero Practice Party. I will crush you later.

Locals Schmocals

People often ask us where our "local authors" section is. We don't have one. They're just in with everyone and everything else, you know, like they're normal authors. This month alone, some of the best new stuff out nationally are by local creators! Kevin Sherry's I'm the Biggest Thing in the Ocean Larry Doyle's I Love You, Beth Cooper Dan Deacon's Spiderman of the Rings Double Dagger's Ragged Rubble Brian Ralph's Sea Corpse Print Daniel Higgs' Atomic Yggdrasil Tarot Baltimore has had factory-levels of activity recently, and there's a lot more coming out this year that we're very excited about. What's happening next?

Nice Motorhead Shirt

The latest issue of Fretboard Journal has a great big article on our favorite banjo player & maker, Pete Ross. I was just realizing today that all of my banjo calluses are gone...replaced by one single Guitar Hero callus. I need to get back to my banjo.

Dishwasher

Image
Zines come and go constantly, but the classics are asked about long after they cease publication in the vain hope that perhaps there's a new issue. There are a few titles that we get asked about again and again. So often, infact, that we even put them in our FAQ . Dishwasher is one of those most asked about zines. If you want to talk about zine classics, it's right up there if not at the top. Pete Jordan had a goal - to wash dishes in all 50 states of the US. And to write about it. Dishwasher ceased publication around 2001. But now, he's back, with a book ! And he'll be here at atomic POP on the 24th, 7pm. And for this occassion, and our 15th anniversary, let's all walk down memory lane and try to think of what else would be in that Top Zine list. We'll be posting our list soon.

Tickets On Sale Now

We have tickets already!
