In case you've been too busy going back to school or work to hear about what's going on around these parts this weekend, we thought we'd take a moment to give you the rundown - it's something you're not going to want to miss. Today is First Fridays in Hampden - and a number of area businesses have special events, sales, refreshments, etc. It's also Celebrated Summer Records 6th Anniversary . The celebration starts with a massive $1 7-inch sale/happy hour. About ten boxes of singles will be marked down to one dollar! The Good, the Bad, and The Ugly are mixed through with some hidden gems as well! Also –  shirts, 5 dollar CD’s, donuts and root beer! Whatever survives the 7th will be out front for folks to dig through during Hampdenfest! Atomic Books will also be serving adult beverages. 6-8pm!! A few years ago, some folks were inspired by Free Comic Book Day (coming up the first Saturday in May) and created this awesome thing called Record Store Day - a day when a bunch of bands and labels release limited edition special pressings of records that go on sale on that day to celebrate and support record stores. Record Store Day is this Saturday, April 16. Numerous record stores throughout the area will be participating, including Celebrated Summer Records . Also, 10% of what Celebrated Summer makes on Record Store Day is going to be donated to the Red Cross for Japan Earthquake relief. There will be both vegan and regular donuts available when the record store opens at 11AM on Saturday AM. For those not in the know, this Saturday is a special day for music fans. It's Record Store Day ! Modifying the Free Comic Book Day celebration concept (which is coming up on Saturday May 1 - and aside from several dozen different free titles we'll be giving out, we'll also be publishing the second issue of Mutant! , plus tons of sale stuff and special comics, etc.), Record Store Day is: ...a celebration of the unique culture surrounding over 700 independently owned record stores in the USA, and hundreds of similar stores internationally. This is the one day that all of the independently owned record stores come together with artists to celebrate the art of music. Special vinyl and CD releases and various promotional products are made exclusively for the day and hundreds of artists in the United States and in various countries across the globe make special appearances and performances.
